TEST/CERTIFICATION FOR MACHINES, ETC. TIIS is a test/certification body designated in 1972 by the Minister of Labour according to the Occupational Safety and Health Law, whose primary function is to attest on behalf of the Minister the standard compliance of 12 items of specific product to be used in industry, and to issue certificates of conformity according to the relevant requirements. 　　　　　　　　　　　 In 2003, the designation system on test/certification body changed to the registration system by the amendment of the Safety and Health Law. In April 2004, TIIS registered for a test/certification body of the 12 machines and equipments described above with the MHLW. The attestation work is undertaken at the Headquaters and Test House at Sayama in Saitama Prefecture. In October 2003, TIIS has concluded the agreement on the "Technical Cooperation" with the Testing/Certification Bodies of NEPSI (The National Supervision and Inspection Center for Explosion and Safety of Instrumentation, CHINA) and KOSHA (Korean Occupational Safety & Health Agency) in the field of testing and certification of Explosion-protected electrical equipment.
